Patrons Professor Joann Fletcher, Katie Greenyer Creative Director at Pentland Brands and Lifelong President Elizabeth Peacock DL
Northern Ladies was founded in 2017 to bring together like minded ladies for enjoyable, informal social events across the year that raise funds to support good causes.
Each year, members are invited to our AGM to put forward their ideas for a chosen charity, which is then put to the vote, so we can support this the following year. Charities can be regional or national and of any cause. Members only are invited to events, the most recent being a private talk, lunch and viewing of an exhibition by Professor Joann Fletcher (patron), and also a visit to Cannon Hall Museum followed by a slap up lunch!
Introduction from our Chairwoman, Susanne Bell
Northern ladies was founded by Elizabeth Peacock, Steph Ingham and Joyce Healey with a plan to attract high-profile Northern ladies as President and Patrons to widen appeal as a membership group. When Elizabeth decided to become lifelong President, I was pleased to be asked to take on the Chairwoman’s role.
Although the organisation was founded in Yorkshire, we hope ladies from all across the North of England will join us and take the opportunity to make new contacts with ladies who all contribute to the events. Our members are a lively and diverse group who hail from a range of businesses and social groups in the North, meeting to discuss issues of the day in a social and informal atmosphere and to raise funds.
The events now attract over 120 ladies and I hope that new members will continue to join us in continuing to contribute to the several thousand pounds already raised for the charities. This is a very worthwhile group and I look forward to welcoming you at our two events which take place across the year.
Chosen Charity for 2021/22 Dementia UK November Afternoon Tea
The Northern Ladies afternoon tea at Berties in Elland was a sell out and the group enjoyed a superb tea and a talk from Dementia UK about how funds are used to help deploy Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia nurses who are trained and funded by Dementia UK. They provide life-changing support for families affected by dementia.
Northern Ladies raised a total of £1873 for Dementia Uk
Sheila Wainwright, Ambassador for Dementia UK commented: That is amazing! What a generous group of people. Thank you everyone - there are so many carers who are struggling to support people they love with dementia and this money will give them support and care from Admiral Nurses through Dementia UK.
Chosen Charity for 2019 Yorkshire Air Ambulance
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire, flying 7 days a week, 365 days a year. To operate this life saving service the charity needs to raise £12,000 per day to keep both helicopters maintained and in the air.
On behalf of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, we are so thrilled to be the Northern Ladies’ chosen charity for 2019 and are very much looking forward to the events this year, starting with the Lunch in
